The Political Observer -Why change Government at all?

Extensive dissatisfaction with the current government has had much of the public predicting that it is time to change the government.
There have been quite a few causes for that dissatisfaction, such as the free-trade deal with China which has ,and will continue to cost jobs in this country.
The apparent degeneration of our policing and attempts to fix that simply by pumping-out more and more unworkable legislation, instead of re-aligning policing, also destroys voter confidence.
Even the insipient free-trade agreement with the United States, will cost this country something socially.  The States does not believe in 'free lunches' therefore we will pay dearly for it, that is for sure.
We can call it 'free-trade' for now, but that is simply because we do not as yet know the exact nature of the 'currency' we will need to use to make our 'purchase'.
Many potential voters have been considering that National in government might save the day for us, but that was before the books were opened and we finally found out that as a country we are very broke.
It therefore matters little what promises National makes to us to gain the treasury benches.
They promise to work some 'jiggery-pokery' on our taxes, but the National Party have always been by nature, low on beneficial social reform, and high on rewarding the rich and revenue gathering from the poor, so change from Labour to National, just for the sake of change itself makes little sense.
With neither party able to wave a magic wand to fix our social condition or economy, we need to elect a government which will do little further harm in office, while we wait for the world economy
to come to better times.
The sensible way to do that,is to ensure that neither major party recieves a clear majority so that government can be safely held relatively imobile by as many coalition partners as possible.
Ironically it is the MMP effect that will insulate us against governmental excesses for the next term. I can see that the best I can do for my country at election time, is to ensure that neither of the major parties gets either my electoral or party vote.

addendum:Listening to

addendum:Listening to talk-back radio this evening, it seems that quite a large back-lash is developing against the way the media has been doing a beat-up on Winston Peters over the funding issue. Unless the political estate is prepared to have all of the political parties open up their funding trusts to be scrutenised by the media and the public, many fair-minded voters are assuming that all the parties have skeletons in their funding closets!!!!
It seems that voters may in fact want to vote for the parties that are willing to tackle the issues full on, and who have a history of achieving beneficial results for middle-New Zealanders, by making MMP actually work as it should for the people.
Many people are now coming to the view that NZ First is the leading party in that regard.
