A beautiful and unspoiled region of the world, Central Hawkes Bay is bounded by the Southern Pacific Ocean on its east coast and the Ruahine Mountain Ranges to the west. The visitor may partake of bush and historic walks, excellent coastal and river fishing, stunning beaches, good camping locations, guided hunting expeditions, wineries, six golf courses and friendly towns. For the more adventurous there are balloon and air excursions available.

Some of the farming families have been here for generations and as a consequence there are magnificent stately homes and surrounding gardens to be enjoyed.

For those needing accommodation, in addition to camping spots and holiday parks, the area abounds with excellent home- and farmstays and good eateries are plentiful.
