On the 17th of October twenty or so people gathered at Camp Wakarara to celebrate its 30th Birtday. Camp Wakarara was created from the closure of the Wakarara School and farsighted principal Rod Appleton-Seymour saw the potential in having a school camp in the Central Hawke's Bay area.
Past and present committee members and contributors to the camp were treated to a fine lunch, great wine and fantastic memories.
Camp Wakarara is a wonderful asset for the CHB community to have on its door step. Many of our school children have either attended class camps or extension camps and have marvellous stories to tell
We look forward to the next 30 years!
