The Carbon Tax

An obviously departing Labour Government, combined with an obviously self-destructing NZ First and a totally off the planet Greens Party are creating legislation to save the planet by putting enviromental taxes on our transport and energy use!!!!!

The National Party is offering no causes for optimism either.

Considering that it is all meant to happen before the next election in very few months time, have you noticed that because it is going through, right or wrong, the politicians are all keeping us in the dark on all of the finer points.

For that same reason, we, the people, will not have any vote on it.  No referendum, no consultation. In fact just a very large political NO!!!

Like all great change, it has to be geared so that carbon taxing does not hurt our exports too much otherwise our whole infrastructure falls to pieces.

So, who will pay in terms of reduced standards of living??   You know who!!!!   It will be the little guy who will not be able to offset energy costs by getting in their own firewood...They are looking to phase out wood-burning as a source of winter heating...That will happen in just a couple of years or even sooner if some have their way.  Home  gardens..Private water-supplies?    Forget it!!   All taxed heavily !!   Something does need to be done to combat climate-change, but we should have had a hand in deciding the extent of that...Of course when we are all running around in people-powered carts and getting used to the rigors of serf-dom we will at least be secure in the knowlege  that all of that equality will mean the end of crime.......won't it?     My personal consolation is that my body-parts will unlikely be harvested for sale by the state, but I do wonder if I will still get the obligatory pistol-bullet in the back of the neck if I upset the moguls, and will my estate get a bill for that bullet?  In the words of the songsters of Dogpatch USA,  "The Country's in the very best of hands............."
