Our local theatre

Our local Waipukurau cinema has got to be one of the best in Hawke's Bay. No; New Zealand.

Like, I go there about once a week and am sure to get great service and a good movie. I recently discovered that they serve hot chocolates and coffee! Now, you can't beat THAT! The closest you get to that in Hastings is getting popcorn thrown at you from three rows up by mischievous tyrants. The sound quality in Waipuk is amazing. I believe it's Dolby Digital? But don't quote me on that. AND all for only ten bucks! Last time I remember going out of town, it cost me fifteen. For a total dissappointment. AND I went to see King Kong, so I was stuck in the grotty hovel for longer than usual watching a not-so-great movie. I love the fact that people can buy alcohol here and people are sensible enough not to get rowdy. Just enjoy themselves. That's awesome, but you only ever get that at Mitchells.

So I think more people should support our local theatre. I mean, it's not THAT bad waiting an extra couple of days to see a new release movie. Especially if it's gonna be in comfort. Like I said, I'm a bit of a regular. I like movies. I also like comfort, and the fact that if I take my mum, I won't be embarrassed by idiotic teenagers (unlike myself) doing stupid/rude/crude stuff.

A BIG thumbs up to the team down there. Like, I don't even mind paying twice the price I normally would for my refreshments/beverages. (Note the use of hyperbole.) And the cheese platters? Billiant. I can eat gourmet food. IN A THEATRE. And everyone serving me smiles. I don't get frowned at or stereotyped. I am NOT the teenager to throw popcorn, or Kool Mints, or spill my coke. And at a city movie theatre, they don't know that. But thankfully I go to a small, community owned and run place where I won't get the 'omigoshherewegoagain' looks from a pimply freak who thinks he's better than I. No, I get served by a nice lady and I get to choose my own seat (Which is CLEAN).

Awesome, awesome, awesome. More people should go there. I really don't see what the big buzz is about going out of town. More Petrol, expensive ticket, STICKY seats, awful staff, poor sound quality. I could go on all night.

I know I'll keep my movie-watching-routine local.

Cheers.

Nice one, BobBon.

Nice one, BobBon. Absolutely have to totally agree - even when James is on the door, it is still a great experience :-).

Sometimes wish there was the patronage to justify an annual film festival but I guess we are in a rather small town.

Cheers,

P.S The kai's not half bad at Mitchells, too.

I too totally agree with

I too totally agree with BobBon. Its an awesome theatre and our out of town guests are always amazed at the quality of customer service there (and the fact they can enjoy a tui while they're at it). We have a school holiday ritual and are often joined by our Hastings visitors just for that experience. Well done Civic Theatre! We're proud to have you!! Cheryl

Thanks. Oh, and it's BonBon

Thanks. Oh, and it's BonBon =).
