THE ARAMOANA WOOLSHED - The real conflict revealed
WAS THERE A REAL COUNCIL CONFLICT OF INTEREST?
In revealing that it was ex-CHB District Councillor Rod Hansen who initiated the 'conflict of interest' complaint against two councillors who voted against the woolshed deal in principle, Councillor Story has, by accident I am sure, effectively shown that the rest of council has a possibly larger conflict of interest than alleged against councillors Story and Sally Butler.
It would be a nonsense for any members of a council so compromised, to attempt to sit on any enquiry which council might set up to make a determination on the original 'conflict of interest' issue. In fact, there is no one on council who is not compromised in some aspect in this mattrer to the degree that it would be utterly futile for council to even consider initiating a 'code of conduct' hearing in relation to any councillor.
In my opinion, The revelation regarding the involvement of ex-councillor Hansen , has the potential to involve ex-mayor Tim Gilbertson in the conflict situation and if so, one could ask if he voted on the matter of the involvement of the Regional Council in the project and if that council, in knowing of the strong connection with some district councillors and Mr Hansen, had in fact overlooked Mr Gilbertson's possible 'conflict of interest?
