Unfortunately my concerns, represented in these blogs and forwarded to local news papers, haven't been printed despite the support they had in presenting them in a submission to CHBDC. When I personally asked why, one publication suggests a CHBDC councilor was correct in saying that the rate burden was to be shifted from rural rate payers onto urban home owners as they were not paying their share of the rates. My suggestion that, for many years rural rate payers have enjoyed many rate and tax payer concessions as even their power supplies and comunication systems require public assistance as it would not be economic to provide them otherwise and to also suggest that those who will be benefiting from this change are those who will ratify the LTCC plan and the asset rich rural property owners and investors in coastal delepoments and lifestyle housing was not acceptable. The reason given was that to suggest this would expose both that publication and myself to legal precedings.
When I moved here 17 years ago and discovered that we were not being supplied with what we were paying for, my style of writing to both those responsible and the local News Papers, has never changed. Nor has my personal approach to these matters at public meetings or submission hearings. To do so required that i kept a scrap book record of public statements made by those who's intentions I was in conflict with and have updated it with CDs recently. Nothing so far, has attracted legal proceedings but has often helped provide a much better result for Central Hawkes Bay rate payers than origionally intended. It has subsiquently been suggested that possible legal proceedings is not the real problem that i am faced with but a method of censorship as to what is printed against a prefered result.
