STRUGGLING AUTHORS v Publishing Houses for reviews
When did you last see a review of the works of a self-published or print-shop published author in a national newspaper or magazine?????
NOT RECENTLY?
Regional newspapers seem to be giving authors a fair go,but the nationals appear to be giving the publishing houses either a formal or informal, exclusive right to published reviews.
"Taihoa! Hold on! " - you say, "Perhaps the quality of such books are not up to national book-review standards?
My own books have received good reviews in regional newspapers(Graeme CASS for H.B.Today said,"Leaves you with an after-burn you will want to share with a friend" & "Clever sci-fi , it held my attention throughout-First-class effort" While Dame Fiona Kidman said,"Packs a few punches and touches some new emotions" but the 'Books' sections of the nationals will not have a bar of me!! WHY??? If other authors are having the same trouble, let's fax or E-mail those nationals and let them know we are not amused. C'mon -LET'S KICK ASS
