Recently we have seen a spate of infected cats in our area and the prevalence of this disease seems to be increasing. The FIV virus attacks the cat’s immune system leaving the animal more susceptible to other diseases eg. mouth ulcers, diarrhoea, weight loss. Spread of this disease is mainly through the introduction of saliva by biting, so free range, fighting cats infected with the virus are the main source of infection. There is no specific treatment for FIV and eventually the cat develops Feline AIDs. Infected cats are a danger to other cats and contact should be prevented as much as possible.

https://www.chb.net.nz/node/1183#comments Animal Matters Fri, 10 Oct 2008 15:45:00 +1300 chbvets 1183 at https://www.chb.net.nz Don't miss the CHB Fireworks Extravaganza ! https://www.chb.net.nz/fireworks2

Thu, 09 Oct 2008 10:17:14 +1300 trevorulyatt 1242 at https://www.chb.net.nz Blue Heeler / Bull Terrier x Mastiff pups for rehoming https://www.chb.net.nz/node/1231

pups: 6 week old blue heeler/bullterrier x mastiff pups FREE to caring homes. Please contact Tony for details 068588875.
Pets & Livestock Tue, 07 Oct 2008 18:59:35 +1300 CHB SPCA 1231 at https://www.chb.net.nz E-Day an Enormous Success https://www.chb.net.nz/eday

The CHB District Council's electronic waste clean-up day was successful beyond wildest expectations. It would become an education centre as part of a regional marine reserve. A base for DOC and the Regional council, Search and Rescue, Rural fire service and other community services. Attracting, we thought unbelieveable numbers of school and college pupils and university students who would be bussed out to the building, suplimented by other visitors, paying a gold coin donation to the trust, expected to cover their expenditure.'

https://www.chb.net.nz/node/1217#comments Thu, 02 Oct 2008 17:11:52 +1200 [email protected] 1217 at https://www.chb.net.nz The Old Church - a restaurant review https://www.chb.net.nz/The+Old+Church
On the few occasions we dine out these days we are usually content to avail ourselves of fare locally offered. On Saturday evening, however, a dear friend insisted on taking us 'out to tea' at a restaurant located in Meanee Road near Taradale.

We arrived at The Old Church at dusk. I thought we had been taken to a fairyland; this superb old Catholic church was beautifully lit achieving a fine balance between the exterior lighting and what we could see of the interior showing through the stained glass windows. To one side rows of vines were draped generously with strings of miniature lamps adding to the magic illusion.

https://www.chb.net.nz/The+Old+Church#comments Wed, 01 Oct 2008 12:14:03 +1200 trevorulyatt 1209 at https://www.chb.net.nz FREE Classified Advertising - https://www.chb.net.nz/node/264
One of the really great things about CHB.NET is the ease with which you can reach people through the classified advertising section.

Need a babysitter, someone to feed your pets while you are away a couple of days, seeking a flatmate or looking for a companion, sell your car or your house - ADVERTISE HERE.

How do you do it ??
