Police Shooting of Steven Wallace-IPCA Report

Judge Godard, who heads the Independent Police Conduct Authority, believes that she will be in a position to release the IPCA's findings on the police shooting of Steven Wallace in 2000, by the end of this month. (Before the general elections we hope!)

Farfaraway's blog on the actuality of the Aramoana Woolshed site will have even the most ardent supporter of the CHBDC's 'right to rule' wanting to see their council making a comment to refute (if that be possible) the contra-factors in the woolshed site purchase.

I believe that a failure of council to acknowledge these problematical factors
will be a step too far in denying democracy to local constituents, if council after claiming to have carried out 'due dilligence', fails to ratify local objection with a referendum and goes ahead with the purchase.

It was interesting to see a little investigative journalism on behalf of the CHB Mail recently. A children's playground was investigated for a safety concern and the article was reinforced with camera-work and was quite thorough. That is how it should be for significant community matters. This weeks 'Mail' contains information from Mayor, Trish Giddens, that council is currently going through 'due dilligence in regard to the Aramoana Woolshed matter. I wonder to what extent if any, council's 'due dilligence' process differs from the general understanding of that term? I would wonder if council was in fact checking to see if the interior of the building was as 'user ready' for council's proposed purpose, as it had been touted?

Just when we thought it had all gone quiet and we assumed that the CHBDC was taking community objection and other problematical factors into account with regard to the whole Woolshed deal, it emerges that there are further contentious developments on the horizon.

For one, it appears that at least one ratepayer objector to the scheme ......(no, not me) will be seeking advice from the government ministries whose interest and oversight may be appropriate to
keeping an eye on what appears to be going on here.

Maude often had that feeling that she was viewing herself and her life through the eyes of a dispassionate observer, as she sat there, day after day in the large cane shair on the front verandah, of the retirement home. At such times she felt quite removed from herself and on occasions asked the question, "Who is this person I am watching and who am I, the watcher?" She never felt this detachment however when she thought of dear Darby. Dear Darby! The love of her life!

Are we looking at the final days for the CHBDC's Aramoana Woolshed project?

Having been alerted by a letter to the editor of Hawke's Bay Today, that Graham Denby has taken the bull by the horns and visitted the woolshed site, armed with cameras and his undisputed ability to research issues,the answer may well be "YES"!!

If a picture is worth a thousand words, I suspect that Graham's snaps of the woolshed interior and the surrounding terrain could spawn a volume of biblical proportion. Knowing his ability to ferret out the truth, I believe that council would be wise to get the monkey, that is the woolshed project, off their backs as soon as they can........or of course they could try and call his bluff which is something I would never do!

Is the 'meaning of life so elusive? It seems to me that modern man is happy to live half of his life in the physical and social enviroment of life, the breeze in the face, one on one interaction with the spoken word, sports, the nurturing of plants and watching the new buds unfold for the first time. Is it possible that our thoughts and machinations, our hidden emotions, what happens within both our conscious and subconscious minds are not really hidden and along with our life in the so-called' real world' are all part of a cosmic play? Perhaps it is all put 'out there' and forms a 'cosmic blog'

It appears that we have been in danger of seeing only one tree (The Aramoana Woolshed) rather then the forest which surrounds it on this issue. As the mist is lifted by public awareness and factors which council has locked up in camera start to become revealed, we start to see that the woolshed may only be part of the equation. What connection if any, is there between some of the principle characters in this issue and the private subdivision of many building sections at Aramoana? Could the woolshed complex serve also as a community centre for the greatly extended Aramoana community? Who are the owners and developers of the subdivision and would not a ratepayer sponsored community hall and social facility add greatly to the saleability of that subdivision? I wonder if with a social facility in place,the new ratepayers will be lumbered with the same over-the-top rates as the more modest dwellings at Porangahau Beach?
